College Week

College Week

(or we could call it furthering education week)

Today we recognized Lone Star High School with our silver and blue!  So...I dug out my MAROON AND ORANGE!!! I attended William Byrd High School in Vinton, VA...
GO TERRIERS! 

It was a Tuesday...

and Ms. Moore was observed by her college supervisor today! She did a great job introducing the Constitution!  We enjoyed some SCHOOL HOUSE ROCK...

We are in the process of writing our Preamble...We the Kids of room 313...More to come!

We made a name word wall to bring home today!  We talked about how the word wall is organized.  Some of use had trouble fitting it all on a piece of paper but HEY...we gave it a good try! Some even wanted to add other friends. We talked about looking at the first letter.  Later in the year we will be alphabetizing to the 2nd letter as well!

That's about all we got to this morning! 

LUNCH

I guess we have had some "problems" with talking at quiet time in the lunchroom!  I've reminded my sweet pups that any teacher can give a color change and it is their responsibility to follow lunch procedures! Hopefully, we won't have any more...

SCIENCE

Oh boy we had some fun in science today.  Remember we are talking about ways things can move. 

 FAST, SLOW, ZIG ZAG, STRAIGHT, UP DOWN, SPIN 

Yes...you got it...but what causes them to move that way?  Well...Ms. Moore got our rolling chair out and we found out that things move when we PUSH or PULL them!

We watched a video and found out that there was a specific word for pushing and pulling!  FORCE...and how much force you put behind your push or pull combined with the weight (Owen reminded us that the weight of something does need to be factored in) dictates how fast the object will move.

Place Value

I love at how well the pups are doing with place value this early in the year!  Yesterday we introduced those base ten blocks...rods and units...and we kinda love using them!
