Well...I'm trying something new...not having such great luck! LOL So our header is a work in PROGRESS!

I hope everyone is enjoying their holiday away from school.  Our first week off was a BUSY one for me. We went to see Yogi Bear, Santa and then Ice at the Gaylord! The weekend was packed with Guy family traditions and LOTS and LOTS of fun!  This second week...I've taken it a bit slower. I even had the chance to read a book just for me! Tonight our First Grade team is heading out for a holiday dinner, not sure what tomorrow has in store as of yet but Saturday is a New Year's Day/Night at the Great Wolf Lodge! And then back to school on Sunday to get ready for the week!
We had to make do with the "fake" stuff
this Christmas! It was still fun to play in!
Hank, "Santa if you tell us to decorate we will
decorate!"
BRRR it's cold in here...
Snoopy was there for a meet
and greet!
The Elfinator 5000 shrunk us
down in size!
And now...to grow again!
It's Christmas Eve...we're in our Christmas
jammies ready to open family presents!
Christmas morning...Jack, "I don't even know
WHERE TO START!"
It has been a wonderful break...but I'm missing my little friends!  It's crazy to think almost 1/2 of the year is passed.  Can't wait to see everyone on Monday!

Here's a hint:United States, Africa, Mexico, France

Not only are we busy traveling all over the world BUT we have been busy right here in room 313! We are LOVING this time of year...time to do lots of crafts and MISS GUY'S favorite part is the GLITTER!
The students got some sad news today!!! Rudolph has decided to retire! Today, we were frantically trying to get our applications in for the job! SO...CUTE... (thanks Lovetwoteach)

What Fun!
I would like to thank our wonderful parents for coming along today and helping at Frisco Safety Town! I hope you enjoyed it as much as we all did!
I am in the process of trying to get pictures and video ready to upload for you all to see! I'm going to have to do it at home...(since for some reason smilebox has decided not to work again here at school)
Also, please make sure to compliment your first grader! They remembered the field trip expectations and behaved wonderfully!

DON'T FORGET
Tomorrow...Dec. 7, 2010 is our field trip to Frisco Safety Town. We will be learning about Motor Vehicle and Pedestrian Safety!
We will leave Robertson about 9:00 and return sometime around 11:00.  Please make sure your child is dressed as if it is a P.E. day...Pants and close toed shoes. Weather permitting we will go out into Safety Town to drive the jeeps and practice our pedestrian safety on a scavenger hunt.  If it is too cold or rainy then we will have a tour of the fire station and jeep vouchers will be given!
I know my little dragons are excited!
ALSO...please make sure your child has a lunch! I did order the 6 sack lunches from the cafeteria but that is all that will be available to our class!
Those lunches belong to: Kerry, Diego, Drake, Sidney, Vylani and Aidan.

REQUEST...
As we head towards the holidays we are in need of 12x18 light brown, dark brown and red construction paper!

Our Special Dragon of the Week

blogger so makes me maaaaadddd!
But this is Randi's blinged out all about me poster!
You just have to turn your head sideways!

On Tuesday, Randi read to us...If You Give a Pig a Pancake!
We love those circle stories!

Just a plain ole CUTIE!

Math Time

Today we started discovering missing addends.  We played "How many are Missing" to help us learn this concept.  If we started with 7 and there are 4 under the cup...how many are missing? Well...THREE of course.  I noticed my friends solving this type problem in a couple of ways.  Some chose to count on. I have 4 and I have to get to 7 so...5,6,7! And the other way was to use the inverse: 7-4=3 SO...three are missing! Great thinkers!

Now you try it the UPS way!
Miss Guy read 3 books about the moon.  Mrs. Williams read some more. They read 8 books about the moon altogether.
What should your number sentence look like?
HMMMM... we already know the sum of our problem so my box must go somewhere else!
3+____=8
Now how should I solve that?

Work Stations

Drake and Aniya were busy at the thinking map station!  Using the Double Bubble to compare and contrast different people! I enjoyed listening in on their questions!

Library Day...Can you tell?

We all enjoy time to read the selections we've made in the library!
