Mrs. O'Hearn came in today and talked to us about going to college and what we want to be! More to come on that!
Day two of Observational Writing. We looked back at our tree map and read the sentences. Each student then copied the tree map and then "took the sentences off the map"! Look at these! Check out the capital letters, spaces, ending punctuation and VBH (very best handwriting)!
Awesome job guys!
Tomorow everyone will be creating their own "story"! We will use the same subject and verbs but everyone will be able to pick from the circle map to finish their sentences! I will still be looking for a capital letter at the beginning, spaces and ending punctuation. I will also check to make sure the sentences make sense!
After writing we continued practince making number equations for given SUMS! We used unifix and recorded the equations...guess what we noticed a pattern!
SUM 7...0+7, 1+6, 2+5, 3+4, 4+3, 5+2, 6+1 and 7+0!!!
Then we looked back at our school map and I was so excited to hear that many of my friends had already made predictions about which destination would be farthest, near and closest! We had a GREAT time timing ourselves! (everyone was so well behaved and on task during our lesson...We all got +1's)
Look at our bubbles! Everyone is anxious to find out how long it takes to get to Mrs. O'Hearns office! Hmmm I wonder if her office is the farthest place we went, near to our classroom or the closest place we traveled?
Drake is keeping track of how long it takes EVERYONE to get from our classroom to the carpet in the computer lab! (We forgot to stop it so we deducted a few seconds)
After we traveled all over the school keeping track of our time...we came back to record our answers! Lots of comparing and ordering of numbers! Looks GOOD to me!
And OF COURSE we had the pleasure of our Dragon of the Week sharing one of his favorite books: Pout Pout Fish (I think it quickly became one of our classroom favorites!)
