Monday...OOOPPPS...

It's TUESDAY! Boo...I missed out on a perfectly good day with my pups! I did come to school and was able to get some stuff done and ready for today! (That's always a good thing!)  Our day went so smoothly and guess what...WE did NOT have to practice lunching today! WOO HOO

Writer's Workshop

Ms. Moore taught her first lesson today. She studied Lucy Calkins (writing guru) this weekend and taught us all how to sort our writing in our writing folders.  Red= STOP I'm done and it's good!  Green= WELL...I think there is more I can add to this piece before I publish or share!

Reader's Workshop/Word Work

We read Chrysanthemum by Kevin Henkes.  Chrysanthemum LOVES her name and her heart is happy...UNTIL...she starts school. Poor Chrysanthemum is made fun of by the other kids. (We crumpled the heart every time someone said something mean to her)! In the end, the music teacher makes everything all right...She was a BIG bandaid on Chrysanthemum's heart.  We tried to smooth out our heart and make it happy again...BUT found out the wrinkles wouldn't come out..."Before you speak Think and be smart.  It's hard to fix a wrinkled heart."
We added bandaids to our heart to help us remember to be fixers NOT wrinklers!

Then we each mad our own Chrysanthemum and she thinks OUR names are PERFECT!

Science

We are still talking about what a scientist is!  Today we brainstormed...SCIENTISTS can, have, are! (0n a circle map of course)  Then we took it off the map.

Some of us chose to draw pictures...

...and some of us wrote words!

When we were finished with that we sorted some of our ideas on our tree maps!

And tomorrow we will take those off the map to write a short piece about our scientist! I am so impressed with my PUPS and their learning!
