Happy, Happy Monday!
It was so wonderful being back in the classroom! We have so much to do!!!
Last week and this week we have been reading poems and will be writing about scarecrows...If at all possible I would like for your child to wear "scarecrow" like clothing on Friday for pictures! (jeans, overalls, plaid shirts...nothing that breaks the dress code and definitely not to COSTUME like!)
Today we did our first pumpkin rotation...Estimation! Everyone made an estimation of how many pumpkin seeds were in the pumpkin. After we had counted out a couple groups of 10...we got to revise our guess. (Vocabulary: Estimation and Reasonablness) Our first guesses ranged from 10 all the way up to 1000. We did have some 100502 (which translates to 152) and 10011 (which is 111)! We will keep working on place value! Tomorrow we will visit Mrs. C. Williams' room...I wonder what we will learn there?
Our new Dragon of the Week is Hayden. (I have not forgotten Makenna's smilebox...just that school has it blocked for some reason!)

Hayden's Favorites:
Mac & Cheese, Playing Wii, and Star Wars Legos!
Hayden says, "hook 'em horns" and LOVES snowy days in Texas!

We are all looking forward to learning more about Hayden this week!

This afternoon we talked about those doubles doubles again! We love that song. More of us noticed patterns in our doubles chart. We were able to go all the way to 40 today! So...since we are getting so good at that...we started thinking that we could use our knowledge of doubles and add one to one of our addends and we would know the answer! We also noticed that when we added 1 more to our doubles it made our sum ODD!!! I will be sending home some flash cards and dot cards for your child to practice with! (I'm waiting to see if the photostory I just made is going to upload...keeping my fingers crossed!Well...it's been about 45 min. so I guess it's not going to post! GGGRRRRR)
