Oh how I wish...

I had updated earlier!

I'm having two issues right now...Blogger is NOT being nice to  me and It's 5:00 and I'm just getting started on this! Sorry...It's gonna be a shorty! I'm meeting my bubbas for dinner in Frisco! Oh how I love those boys!

JUST look at our VISITOR we had yesterday!  SOOOO well behaved!

WRITING
Today we continued to practice complete sentence writing!  We used our tree map BUT we wrote a sentence first and then MAPPED it to make sure we had all the parts needed to make a complete thought!

I think this little pup understands that a sentence has to be a complete thought!

LOOK what happened today...WE introduced a workstation! WELL....they didn't know they were working but I did!

I'm thinking this book sounds like FUN!

SCIENCE

Real World Connections YES SIREE!  Most everyone knew this came from some sort of phone but specifically and iphone!  We used it to look at the weather forcast and symbols that are used to tell us what they predict the weather to be!  THEN...we got to make our own forcast!

MATH
Curriculum Based Assessment time!  We did get in a little review...The pups did AWESOME.  We will finish it up tomorrow!

AND NOTHING BUT AWESOMNESS...Let's just go ahead and make WEDENESDAY our KIWI class shirt day for the REST of the year!  I love how we looked today! It sure created a warm community of friends!

I am ONE happy happy TEACHER!

I have been able to start some Guided Reading this week! (Thank you Ms. Moore for teaching.)  If your child brings home a guided reading "bag" PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make sure that they bring it back each day.  I cannot send a new book home unless their "bag" is in school and previous reads have been returned!

If your child has not brought home a "bag" yet...DON'T worry...I promise I will get to everyone.
Mrs. Boor found this fun page to make a CHARACTER scrapbook page...Be sure to give it a try with your guided reading book! click here

POETRY:

Six Little Ducks

Six little ducks that I once knew,
Fat ones, skinny ones, fair ones too.
But the one little duck with the feather on his back,
He led the others with a quack, quACK, QUACK.
SCIENCE:

We went outside to OBSERVE and RECORD our scientific weather observations!

When we came in Ms. Moore "read" us a WORDLESS picture book.  Guess what??? We got to make up our OWN story about Princess Sophia and all of her WEATHER adventures.

GIVE US A BREAK...

Monday, Monday

It was so nice getting to do car duty this morning! Since this week and next Ms. Moore is full time teaching...I get her duties. I must say it is a HAPPY change.  I enjoyed seeing pups from years past as well as my recent ones! Be sure to wave if you drive through the next few weeks!

YEP...today was the DAY!  And...guess what...we all survived! After the fire drill we did a quick bad weather drill as well. Everyone did a FANTASTIC job.  So proud of my pups.

Blogging is going to be strange for me...since I am not doing the majority of the teaching...

WRITING:
We introduced a new tool. The Give It A Go spelling sheet.

READING:
We are still predicting and confirming our predictions with text.  Ms. Moore read, First Grade Here I Come!

She asked the pups to make a prediction about what this story might be about from the cover.  (Well...some have already read this story so...guess what? Their predictions were SPOT ON!)

SCIENCE:
Oh meteorology...here we come!  We are going to be doing a study of the weather...We all want to be the meteorologist...so here's our chance! Today we brainstormed what we knew about different types of weather.  Ms. Moore broke us up into small cooperative groups!

UGH...

Friday schedule...CRAZY...but fun!

We started our day in library with Mrs. Biamont.  (Please help your pup know that books should be returned on Friday)

She introduced us to...

And read...

Notice the red sticker that tells us it is a 2X2!

When we read a 2X2 we will color in a piece of our boot!

Time to...
Type in that number....

Then give it a good scan! Owen has it DOWN!
After library we came back and took our FIRST spelling test.  We did pretty well...(I did look them overbut did not have a chance to get them graded and handed back!)

We did some predicting and then went to computer. We will work on Istation on Fridays with a little bit of "free student software" time at the end.

Recess/Lunch

Some fun science stuff today... B-U-B-B-L-E-S and yes it really WAS science...

JUST LOOK AT THESE JOURNAL REFLECTIONS...(Remember this week has been all about motion and the force that creates motion.)
"The bubls mvd ef you bloy."

I love that her bubbles make a nice little thinking bubble!
"I observed that if you blow the bubbs it flos and the wind is the fors.  They are
cade (kind) of slow.)

"The wind blud (blowed) the bubes uway frum me
every drregshion (direction) every wair (where)."

I am BLOWN away by their observations and ability to record them!  REALLY it's only been 4 weeks of school!

So guess what opened today... WOWzer's General Store! This year...coupons are the hot commodity...The only ITEM we have for sale is...a PENCIL!!

So...if your awesome pup says..."I can bring my stuffed animal to school." He or she is probably telling the truth! They were given a coupon (after LOTS AND LOTS of counting by 10s, 5s, 2s and 1s) for whatever they chose to purchase! A couple of things...shoes off...when they choose to use this coupon they must have socks to wear in the classroom! Stuffed friends should ideally fit in a backpack...if it's a little bit big that's okay but please NOTHING GINORMOUS!!! I had one friend not buy ANYTHING...I asked him why? "Cuz I want to save up to buy the class a treat!" AWE what a sweetheart!  Class treats include: pj day, popcorn party, no homework night, a few extra minutes of recess...

AND...WOO HOO look what we got today!
So excited to see all my little pups in their KIWI class shirts! I want to have them put them on for a quick photo before I send them home.  Then...they will wear them on Field Trip days and it can also be our WEDNESDAY shirt!

ALL ABOUT ME posters are UHmazing!!! You guys are so awesome.  We will start Top Dog the first week of Oct.  I know the kids are excited for all of their special days! (Let show and tell begin!)

Have a wonderful weekend...I will spend tomorrow on the sidelines of the soccer fields! Hope all of you have fun stuff planned as well!
