Wow! Where did the week go. It is already WEDNESDAY... I am having difficulties with blogging at home, so, I apologize. I would like to remind everyone that there is a special assignment that EVERYONE needs to complete! Please find blog that is titled Special Assignment #2 and comment!

We have a NEW friend in our class. Hannah comes to us from Christie Elementary so she is fitting right in. She already knows how to do those UPS Checks!!!

Kaitlyn is our Dragon of the Week. Unfortunately, her poster was done at the beginning of the year and her Christmas Kitty, Isabella was not able to be included. She would LOVE to bring her in for show and tell on Friday...but we need to know if anyone is allergic! Please let me know! ASAP.

We have been using our knowledge about Martin Luther King, Jr. to write. Wow!!! What great authors we are becoming!

"Martin Luther King, Jr. was a good man. He had a dream . His dream was that for all people to be equel. Martin Luther King, Jr. wantid people to be judge by their character. But not by their race. Martin Luther King Jr. died fighting racism."

We have also started studying 2-D and 3-D shapes. Vocabulary: corners, vertices, points, edges, and faces. Be sure to talk about these around the house! Next week we will be taking another CBA (curriculum based assessment) covering lots of math topics!

OH and I can't forget...Miss Caras is BAAAAACCCCKKK. We are all excited to have her in our classroom 5 days a week! It won't be long before she's ready to take over room 313!

Enjoy your day!

Special Assignment #2

Everyone MUST participate in this...comment to this post (please have your child type in his/her response) No later than Jan.17! One complete sentence. What makes a GREAT teacher? Please talk with your child about this and brainstorm lots of great, creative answers. Have them pick their favorite to use. We will be using their answers to create a TOP SECRET project...SO please put some thought into this and participate. Thanks!

ROCKS!!!

Today we played Catch A Clue. The kids were to guess what our new science topic was going to be based on clue #1...They are outside on the ground. clue #2...Some are very big, but most of them are small. Well, lots of us had to change our mind about what it could be. clue #3 They are not alive! A few got it by clue three but not everyone!
For the next week or two you may refer to us as geologist (scientist who studies rocks). We found out today that rocks are...shiny/dull, hard/soft, smooth/rough (properties), minerals, solid matter, non-living and not man made. Did you know that rocks are formed in the center of the earth? We are very excited about our newest studies! Please check your child's red folder for some "rock" homework!
Have a GREAT evening!

Welcome Back! What a GREAT day we had. It looked as if everyone had grown at least a couple of inches! I enjoyed hearing about holidays and gifts received.

I would like to thank so many of you for the holiday gifts! I am SO sorry I have not written thank you note. I'm embarrassed to say that in the rush at the end of the party and getting home I cannot remember what came from who! I SO enjoyed gift cards to sonic, chick fil a, starbucks and target! All places I frequent often. The mugs of hot chocolate were fabulous...especially on the cold evenings over break! I love the holiday and school decorations as well! The best gift of all is having your child here at school and watching them grow and learn! I've said it before but thank you so much for sharing your child with me!
